Must say I expected worse.  Today was the first day of barefoot running and a quick loop through Waterville Estates ( Up Hodgeman Hill Down Snowood back to my house on Hodgeman) left me feeling great.  All toll 2.14 miles and 364 vertical feet and aside from a slight bit of tenderness the feet feel fine.

I took me about 4 weeks of barefoot walking all around the Estates with the dogs to feel comfortable enough to try running.  Now I'm thinking after a half dozen or so small loop runs I'll be ready for a longer run, possibly the Winterbrook loop.

----5/19/10---

Second day in a row and the feet are still feeling great.  Same loop, a couple of seconds slower in the rain.  It felt nice running on the wet cold road.  However,  the sand and road grit were a touch more bothersome today.  Best aspect of barefoot running is feeling how your body automatically recenters. Every step lands right in the middle of the foot not on the heel or toe.  It feels much less jarring than I would have expected. I almost feel lighter while running.  The true test will come on a longer run.
